What is Libby by Overdrive, and how do I access and use it?

 

What is Libby by OverDrive?  

Libby by OverDrive is a digital library platform that provides access to eBooks, audiobooks, and other digital content. You can access Libby via the web or by downloading the Libby app.

How can students and staff access Libby by OverDrive?

You can access Libby in two ways:

1. Mobile Devices:

  • Download the Libby app from your device's app store
  • Open the app and select "Yes, I have a library card" 
  • Search for TAFE Queensland
  • Select "Sign in with my card"
  • Log in using your TAFE Queensland Microsoft Single Sign-On

 Once you have logged in successfully you will see the TAFE Queensland logo. 

 

2. PC Access

  • Visit the A-Z Databases page on the library website.
  • Select the Libby by OverDrive link
  • Log in using your TAFE Queensland Microsoft Single Sign-On

Once you have logged in successfully you will see the TAFE Queensland logo. 

 

Already have a Libby account?

  • Open the app and select "Add library"

  • Search for TAFE Queensland.  

  • Log in using your TAFE Queensland Microsoft Single Sign-On

Note: You can be logged in to multiple libraries through this app. 

 

Borrowing and Returning Items 

How many items can users borrow at a time?  

  • Users can borrow up to 10 items at a time. 

  

How long can users keep borrowed items?  

  • The borrowing period for items is typically 14 days.  

  • Items will automatically return at the end of the borrowing period, but users can return them earlier if desired. 

  

Can users renew borrowed items?  

  • Yes, users can renew items if there are no holds on them.  

  • Renewals can be done through the Libby app or Libby by OverDrive website. 

  

Technical Support 

What should users do if they encounter technical issues with the Libby app or Overdrive website?  

  • Check the Libby Help for troubleshooting tips.  

  • Contact TAFE Queensland Library Network staff via Library Live Chat or Ask-a-Librarian

 

Are there any compatibility issues with certain devices?  

  • The Libby app is compatible with most mobile devices, including iOS and Android. However, users should ensure their device's operating system is up to date for optimal performance.
