What is a database and how do I choose the right one?

A database is a collection of library online resources which can contain journal articles, eBooks, book chapters, newspapers, video clips and more. You can use databases to:

  • Quickly search for information on a particular topic without having to spend a lot of time browsing individual journals or books.

  • Find more dependable and thoroughly researched information than you would on the Internet, including primary resources.

  • Easily share and save information and resources relevant to your course.

Using the TAFE Queensland Subject Guides is the easiest way to find the right database for your course. Simply select your chosen subject from the dropdown list and our guide will show you which databases we recommend.

You can see our full range of databases here.
