How do I use the self checkout machine?

Self-check machines are located near the front entrance of TAFE Queensland Library Network campuses. If are unsure where the machine is located, please ask TAFE Queensland Library Network staff to assist.

Tips for using the self-check machine:

  1. Place your library card (barcode up) under the scan line (red light). You will hear a beep.

  2. Place item on scan bed to check out. Push the spine flush up against the left hand wall and slowly guide the book away from you until the scan line reads the barcode.

  3. You will hear a beep and if the loan successfully checks out, you will see confirmation of this on the screen. On some machines, you will also be given the opportunity to get a printout of the transaction.

  4. If an error message appears, go the front counter and ask a staff member to assist with the loan.

Some TAFE Queensland Library Networks also have self-check kiosks. These work similarly except you can use a barcode scanner instead of planning your items under the scan line to be checked out.
